Completes a variety of Structural engineering assignments, applying engineering techniques and analyses within the civil and structural engineering discipline. The Engineer at this level is qualified in the utilization of most engineering theories and practices. Some assignments involve structural analysis and design of basic structures including repair and improvements. Some assignment may require CAE (computer aided engineering)/CAD (computer aided design) applications.
Performs various structural engineering design assignments requiring the application of standard principles and fundamental theories studied in a four-year university engineering program and use of available data in the engineering field.
Direct use of CAD workstations to prepare design drawings and engineering deliverables. Extracts engineering information from CAD drawings.
Collaborates with lead engineer and designers to prepare engineered designs and plan drawing deliverables that are suitable for estimating and construction.
Prepares or assists in preparing fundamental structural engineering computations, formal deliverable calculations, specifications, material quantity takeoffs, material and cost estimates, surveys and survey reports and designs.
Assists in the preparation of detailed requisitions for material purchase procurement, supplier services, and subcontracts.
Assists in the existing structures field survey. Familiarity with concrete condition assessment and be able to gather data and write condition assessment reports.
Under the guidance of a more senior engineer, assists in reviewing supplier drawing submittals and technical bid analyses.
Experience with CAD tools including 3D modeling using AutoCAD and Revit as well as efficiency in utilizing other computer software.
Prepares engineering design for site demolition and improvement, specifications, calculations, and other construction documents. Provides input to Computer Aided Design (CAD) workstations and coordinates their production with Designer/Drafters working on the same project for graphic consistency and quality.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate, under the direction of the lead engineer and project manager.
May be required to provide the seal and signature of the professional engineer, as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and ordinances.
Must have the ability to identify and discuss problems involving significant deviations from design policies and industry standard.
Familiarity with NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers) and awareness of the fundamentals of corrosion in concrete structures is a plus.
-4-year degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
-Minimum of 5 years of related work experience
-Registration as a professional engineer or ability to acquire quickly
-FAMILIARITY WITH IBC, ACI, ASCE, AND UFCs
-Experience with CAD tools including 3D modelers (AutoCAD and Revit) as well as efficiency in utilizing computer software.
