Job Description:

Space Ground System Solutions (SGSS), a Parsons company has an immediate on‐site full‐time opening for a full time Senior Systems Administrator supporting a program on a secured DOD client site located in Washington, D.C. You will be responsible for the development and management of computing infrastructure that supports development and testing of spacecraft systems, including servers, storage, network, workstations as well as all installed software.

The individual will also be responsible for implementing and executing computer and information security plans in accordance with the organization’s requirements and standards. Candidates should be comfortable in both Linux/UNIX and Windows server environments, while also capable of

supporting end‐user scientific workstations.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Day‐to‐day system administration, tasking, and prioritization of work in support of DOD project user needs. MUST be self‐motivated and able to assertively document and follow‐up on customer requests.

  • Responsible for day‐to‐day system administration of the DOD government programs. Includes but not limited to workstation and server setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.

  • Management of Red Hat and Ubuntu Linux servers, Windows 10 and Windows Servers, VMWare VSphere installation and administration, and VMWare Workstation deployments, AWS VPC and EC2, Juniper firewalls, Dell Network Switches, Netapp, Dell, and HP SAN storage, MediaWiki and other web‐based applications.

  • Provide direct mission support in a classified and unclassified Linux desktop and server environment.

  • Support long‐term planning and management of infrastructure, including maintenance, upgrades, and replacement obsolete equipment.

  • Researching new technologies for all of these environments this includes working with IT management and/or government business leaders to analyze new server requests and deliver allocated server administration tasks within defined timeframes.

  • Responsible for tasking & management of system administrators at both the Alexandria & Florida offices, as well as DODgovernment location.

  • Responsible for building and deploying large SANS used in a VMware VSphere environments.

  • Responsible (backup support) for corporate office system administration and maintenance of IT assets on an as needed basis. This is support of supplement government projects with development workstations, servers, and training lab(s).

  • Responsible (backup support) for system administration at least two other government sites\projects. Tasks include but are not limited Linux Developer & OPs workstation setup, maintenance, & troubleshooting. Linux & Windows based server deployment and maintenance; Cisco and Juniper switch configuration, Cisco firewall configuration, and VMWare ESXi and VCenter administration.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Must be a US citizen

  • Active DoD SECRET clearance

  • BS in relevant field (Computer Science/Engineering, Software Engineering) and/or relevant experience

  • Minimum of 8 years’ operations experience in an enterprise setting, including demonstrated O&M experience (advanced troubleshooting, patching, hardening, etc.)

  • Minimum of 5 years Linux administration expertise in RHEL6, 7 & 8 environment. Includes full management of installations, configurations and troubleshooting of all aspects of Linux servers

  • Extensive (5+ years) infrastructure and Linux/Unix based application support experience

  • Solid 3+ years of progressive VMware experience. Strong knowledge of VSphere, Windows, and MacOS

  • Strong understanding of DISA STIG requirements and implementation

  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities effectively

  • 3+ years of progressive Knowledge of Data Storage Technologies as NAS or SAN

  • Able to perform planned after hours support in 5‐day per week operational environment

  • 3+ years of progressive with Computer hardware repairs, Networking Concepts and Protocols, Linux & Windows system administrator, Virtualization, VSphere/VSAN, and SAN deployments

  • Good understanding of TCP/IP based networking

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

What Desired Skills You'll Bring:

  • Current TS/SCI

  • Secret clearance, with ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance

  • 2+ years of progressive knowledge in AWS EC2 & VPC environments

  • Experience in executing information assurance plans and procedures

  • Experience in collection, and communication of user requirements to supervisor to enhance current and future design and implementation of customer systems

  • Proven experience independently researching, planning, presenting, implmenting, and maintaining substantial IT infrastructure solutions

  • Provide Tier 1/Tier 2 support to user community

  • Interface and represent user community to enclave IA/IT groups

  • Programming Languages: Shell Scripting (bash, csh), and HTML/CSS

  • MySQL application and database system support experience

  • COTS Products: Apache Web Server, Netapp, RedHat Satellite Server, RedHat IDM, Juniper, Fortinet Fortigate, Dell Servers & Switches, VMware VSphere

  • Background in SaaS infrastructure and service development, ideally across a wide range of software, operational and networking aspect

  • 3+ year of supporting tasks associated with the design, build, implementation, and administration of the On‐Premises and Cloud server environment.

Salary Range:

$100,400.00 - $175,700.00
