Are you ready to put use your engineering degree to help the environment?Parsons is seeking a degreed engineer with an academic background in mechanical engineering and knowledge of pumping controls and piping systems to join our Northwest Indiana team. This position is based in East Chicago, Indiana. It willreport to a senior engineer and will work with various engineers, scientists, technicians, administrative, safety personnel and our industrial client. Successful candidate will function within an environment of high expectations for both work product and safe field practices.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Inspecting, maintaining and troubleshooting groundwater and oil recovery remediation system equipment.

Utilizing piping and instrumentation diagrams.

Improving the operations and reliability of remediation equipment.

Ensuring Process Safety in design, operation and maintenance of remediation systems.

Writing construction specifications using oil refinery standards for equipment changes and repairs.

Working with contractors to inspect and repair equipment.

Evaluatingand optimizing groundwater remediation systems in a team with environmental engineers.

Field oversight of construction and drilling contractors.

Data compilation and evaluation, cost estimating, oral and written communications and report preparation.

Additional responsibilities will be determined based upon the needs of the team and the client and may require priorities to be adjusted on short notice.


4-year degree in Engineering (or related field) and 0-3 years of related work experience.


An M.S. degree in engineering and internships in the mechanical field.

Experience with mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.

Experience with operations and maintenance of pumps, level controls, valves and/or other groundwater remediation system components.

Experience with construction management.

Process Safety experience.

Must have 40 hour OSHA Hazwoper Training certification or be able to complete that training prior to starting.

Must be able to obtain TWIC to work at an active refinery.
