Parsons is seeking a Research Assistant to assist Naval Medical Research Unit - Dayton (NAMRU-D) and its collaborating institutions in the conduct of aerospace medical and environmental health research to further understand the human cognitive and physiological factors associated with military operations in aviation, underwater, and special warfare environments.
The Research Assistant will work closely with Naval Aerospace Medical Research Laboratory (NAMRL) Principal Investigators (PI) to implement research projects. NAMRL is equipped with research capabilities in acceleration and sensory science, environmental physiology, biomedical sciences, and engineering and technical services, all of which are supported by a unique collection of state-of-the-science research devices. NAMRL's unique research portfolio enables NAMRU-Dayton to transition validated knowledge and effective technologies to the fleet to sustain and enhance performance and mitigate and prevent leading factors associated with flight mishaps, aerospace health threats, and aircrew performance.
DUTIES, SKILLS and ABILITIES
Schedule and assist with participant screening and data collection
Coordinate the implementation of sponsored and PI-initiated research studies, including regulatory requirements, maintenance of files/study records, and all activities associated with internal and external audits in coordination with the PI
Maintain FDA-compliant study binders and project data/file management
Assist the PI with eIRB submissions and misc. paperwork for human subjects research approval, modifications, and continuing review
Modify and plan research experiments, procedures, tests, or survey instruments
Assist in research design and development of a study budget
Assist with the preparation of reports in support of research sponsors on project and program status
Assist with preparation for presentations and written published articles
Assist in the coordination of the use of laboratory space across research teams and projects
Assist and educate entry-level research assistant personnel in the understanding and performance of their duties
Clean and maintain instrumentation, equipment, and laboratories
Monitor supply inventory and replenish stocks through established supply procedures including the drafting of purchase orders
Bachelor's Degree in Biological Science, Behavioral Health, Health Science, Physiology, Psychology, or related field plus at least 3 years research experience
Or Master's Degree in Biological Science, Behavioral Health, Health Science, Physiology, Psychology, or related field
Basic programming skills
Virtual reality research
Must be able to obtain, maintain and/or currently possess a security clearance.
