Job Description: Parsons is seeking a Research Physiologist to assist Naval Medical Research Unit - Dayton (NAMRU-D) and its collaborating institutions in the conduct of aerospace medical and environmental health research to further understand the human cognitive and physiological factors associated with military operations in aviation, underwater, and special warfare environments.Research Physiologist will support medical research projects in NAMRU-D's Naval Aerospace Medical Research Laboratory (NAMRL). NAMRL is equipped with research capabilities in acceleration and sensory science, environmental physiology, biomedical sciences, and engineering and technical services, all of which are supported by a unique collection of state-of-the-science research devices. NAMRL's unique research portfolio enables NAMRU-Dayton to transition validated knowledge and effective technologies to the fleet to sustain and enhance performance and mitigate and prevent leading factors associated with flight mishaps, aerospace health threats, and aircrew performance. Duties/Responsibilities:
Prepare, review, and assist with design and conduct of scientific physiological research focusing on health and performance, including responses to exposure to chemicals, extreme environmental conditions, such as temperature, humidity, altitude, vibrations, and noise, and/or physical demand
Utilize human models to evaluate the short and long-term health and performance effects of acute and chronic exposure to chemicals, environmental stressors and/or physical demand
Assist investigators in the design and execution of research protocols on physiology and performance issues of interest to the Navy
Collect physiology and behavior data from human and/or animal subjects, such as pulmonary endpoints, EKG/heart rate, stress markers, and performance measures
Operate and maintain standard and specialized laboratory equipment to assess physiological function and health effects
Assist with data/statistical analysis
Prepare, review, and assist with the development of technical reports, presentations, and publications
Assist with the development of proposal applications for other physiological, psychological, medical, and performance studies
Requirements: PhD and at least 2 years' research experience or MA or MS with at least ten years' research experience in a relevant field of study (physiology, exercise science, etc.). Desired: PhD in a relevant field of study (physiology, exercise science, etc.).Must be able to obtain, maintain and/or currently possess a security clearance.
