Responsible for Project-level general accounting. The main objective of the position is to primarily supervise day-to-day Accounts Payable and Payroll staff and activities: transactional entries, review/approval, compliance checks, customer support, problem solving, policy formation, process improvements, etc. Additionally, will assist in the performance review and development of staff.
Reports directly to the Finance Manager. Functions on a self-directed basis with minimal supervision long-term, applying a hands-on approach to effectively and efficiently accomplish all job duties. Will maintain frequent communication/coordination with the regional Finance office to finalize payments and resolve issues. May interact directly with the Client concerning Billing or payment inquiries in the absence of the Finance Manager.
Review vendor payment requests, ensuring charge codes, amounts, and supporting documents are accurate/complete. Be knowledgeable of all vendor/payment entry types in order to also create system entries during times of backlog, staff shortages, and vacation coverage purposes.
Oversee Accounts Payable staff to ensure invoices are being processed in a timely manner and provide any necessary guidance and training. Take direct ownership for processing Intercompany invoice payments.
Provide support for employee expense reports, directly to employees and assist the primary finance staff member responsible for this function.
Review all Payroll manual calculation payments and be prepared to calculate the same when needed.
Oversee the Payroll function involving timesheet audits/adjustments; employee leave records; payroll-close to finalize salary deductions and payments; employee inquiries; labor billing; electronic employee records archiving; etc.
Perform Ad-hoc financial reports and provide assistance for special projects (e.g., internal/external audit requests).
Participate in the development/formation of accounting and financial control policies.
Assist in client billing reports; Budget preparation and monitoring; Funding requests; and petty cash compliance.
Experience and Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field from an accredited college or university and a minimum of eight years of diversified accounting experience, at least four of which were closely related to this position. Project accounting/finance, and leading cross-cultural teams, experience preferred.
Fluency in English, both verbal and written.
Excellent computer skills, specifically MS Excel and MS Office, and experience extracting data from an ERP system to perform ad-hoc analysis and reports.
