Position Overview:

  • Supervisory field engineering position in civil construction methodology, management and application of engineering techniques on major projects related to site development, residences, buildings structures, foundations and buildings, steel and concrete structural works.

  • Responsible for managing the administration and supervision of field civil construction monitoring activities including site-work, structural steel, concrete, masonry pre-cast, roofing.

  • Provides technical guidance and expertise to ensure completion within established schedule, in accordance with design specifications and contractual obligations. Inspect and provide solutions / recommendations structural l civil works for private sector projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides guidance to contractors, procedures, and other information requirements.

  • Plans and organizes monitoring of private projects contractors structural, foundation and civil works activities.

  • Reviews activities of subordinates to ensure field operations are adequately monitored and all necessary tests and inspections are conducted.

  • Develops a close working relationship with contractor. Provides technical guidance in interpretation of specifications for structural, foundation and civil works. Methods, equipment, staffing and productivity and detects potential problems in conforming with established schedules and specifications.

  • Reviews problems with contractor to determine whether actions proposed are adequate for resolution.

  • Supervise the execution shop and as-built drawings submitted by contractor.

  • Identifies and reports on discrepancies in original design or in contract documents which necessitate contract modifications.

  • Coordinates with other departments to obtain required support.

  • Compiles technical data to prepare monthly reports on project progress. Conducts or directs facts finding investigations.

  • Assists in coordinating the compilation of relevant documentation and the determination of actual events and situations causing contract delays.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with minimum 12 years of field experience in construction of major projects including buildings (multi-story, single story, residence developments), concrete and steel frame, CMU and precast walls, cast-in-place or precast concrete floors and roof, built-up roofing.

  • Field construction or working knowledge for supervision of civil works, multi-craft and discipline construction practices (structural, civil), inspections, testing and commissioning methods of related civil and structural works.

  • Experienced with construction drawings, shop drawings, material submittals, and appropriate codes and requirements (i.e. ANSI, ASTM, and other related building codes and standards).

  • Must have a Driver’s License

  • Should be able to communicate in both spoken and written English skills.

  • Knowledge of computers and basic software applications: MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point), read construction schedules (Primavera and/or MS Project). AutoCAD is a benefit, but not a requirement.
