Parsons is the Construction Manager of the Giant Mine Remediation Project. This is a world class remediation project using innovative methods to deliver a safe environment. The project is expected to last over 10 years and is located just outside the City of Yellowknife, NWT. Ready to put your skills to work on one of the most interesting remediation projects? Local candidates and candidates willing to relocate to Yellowknife are preferred but open to considering candidates who can travel to the Yellowknife area for the project on a case-by-case basis.
This role will be located in Yellowknife on a full time/permanent basis acting as the Environmental Manager for a long-term, large-scale remediation project at the Giant Mine Site.
Responsible for managing all environmental compliance activities at the mine site
Acts as a Work Package Project Manager for environmental monitoring sub-contracts
Develops the scope for environmental work packages.
Responsible for resolving all issues and liaising with regulators, on environmental compliance, and providing notices to the client
Responsible for reporting on all environmental monitoring and compliance activities.
Responsible for implementing an Environmental Management System of Giant Mine Remediation project.
Will develop and conduct specific environmental training of a general environmental or task/ discipline -specific nature, in conjunction with the remediation functions concerned.
Will demonstrate project and contract management capabilities in managing environmental subcontractors related to water treatment plants, monitoring programs for soil, air, surface and groundwater to be within budget, scope and time.
Will demonstrate thorough understanding and knowledge of the federal and NWT environmental regulations.
Bachelor's Degree in a Science curriculum related to the assigned discipline and typically 10+ years of related work experience, including considerable technical and supervisory experience.
Shall have a minimum of 8-10 years of environmental experience in managing environmental related projects, preferably at a mine site.
Experience working on Mining projects or large scale industrial sites.
Experience with Microsoft office suite.
Must be a team player.
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
